Let me just start by saying this: A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas completely wrecked me (in the best way possible). If A Court of Thorns and Roses hooked me, this sequel absolutely sealed the deal. This book is everything – heart-wrenching, swoon-worthy, action-packed, and packed with so much character growth, it left me breathless.

Picking up after Feyre’s traumatic experiences Under the Mountain, this story is about her journey toward healing, self-discovery, and, let’s be honest, falling for the right guy. As she struggles to find herself in the Spring Court, Rhysand offers her a bargain that throws her into the heart of the Night Court. There, Feyre learns what it means to be free, powerful, and loved for who she truly is.

“There are good days and hard days for me – even now. Don’t let the hard days win.”

What I Loved

This book has everything I could possibly want in a fantasy novel. Feyre’s growth is incredible. Watching her rise from the ashes (literally and figuratively) was so satisfying. Her journey is deeply personal and raw – she’s messy and flawed, but that’s what makes her relatable.

Rhysand. That’s it, that’s the paragraph. Kidding (kind of). But seriously, he’s everything a love interest should be: supportive, empowering, and unapologetically himself. The banter between Feyre and Rhysand is perfection, and their slow-burn romance? CHEF’S KISS.

The world-building also reaches a whole new level in this book. The Night Court is stunning, and the Inner Circle? Absolute squad goals. I adored Cassian, Azriel, Amren, and Mor – they added so much depth and heart to the story.

“To the stars who listen – and the dreams that are answered.”

What I Didn’t Love

This book is long. While I loved every moment, some scenes felt drawn out. But honestly, I didn’t mind – it just gave me more time with these amazing characters.

“You do not fear. You do not falter. You do not yield.”

Final Thoughts

This book is about reclaiming your power, finding your people, and learning to let go of the things that no longer serve you (very Aries moon of me to relate to Feyre’s fiery determination). Feyre’s journey resonated deeply – she’s a reminder that healing isn’t linear, and sometimes, breaking away from the past is the bravest thing you can do.

As a Pisces rising, I also couldn’t help but fall for the dreamy, ethereal quality of the Night Court. It felt like stepping into a world that was as magical as it was healing.

This book is for:

  • Fans of slow-burn romance (with plenty of tension!)
  • Readers who love character-driven fantasy stories
  • Anyone who enjoys stories about empowerment and self-discovery

Overall, A Court of Mist and Fury is a masterpiece of fantasy storytelling. It’s emotional, romantic, and full of unforgettable moments.

I’d give it a solid 5/5 stars – it’s the kind of book that leaves you with a serious book hangover.

Let me know if you’ve read it – are you Team Rhysand too? Or did Tamlin somehow still win you over? (If so, we need to talk. 😂)
