Have you ever picked up a book thinking it was going to be a light read, only to find yourself sobbing into your comforter at 2am? That was me with The Last Letter by Rebecca Yarros. This book completely shattered me in the best possible way. As a mom who can’t imagine my world without my little ones, this story about family, grief, and love hit me on such a personal level.
“Be brave. Write to me. I’ll write back.”
What I Loved
Rebecca Yarros knows how to craft an emotional rollercoaster. This book tugged at my heartstrings with its raw and honest portrayal of grief and healing. I fell in love with Beckett and Ella’s letters – intimate glimpses into their lives that felt so genuine. And Colton and Maisie? They were the heart of the story. Watching their relationships with Beckett unfold brought so much warmth and hope to an otherwise heavy narrative.
“Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is ask for help.”
What I Didn’t Love
While I loved the emotional depth, there were moments that felt a little predictable. I guessed some of the big twists before they were revealed, which slightly diminished their impact. That said, the journey was so well-written that it still held my attention from start to finish.
“You don’t measure love in time. You measure it in grace.”
Final Thoughts
The Last Letter explores the power of love, loss, and resilience. It’s about finding the strength to move forward after tragedy and the ways people can become family in the most unexpected ways. It also touches on PTDS, single parenthood, and the healing power of human connection.
