There’s nothing quite like being three books deep into a series and realizing you’re completely obsessed. I read A Court of Wings and Ruin while juggling mom life, laundry mountains, and late-night reading marathons. Let me tell you, it was worth every bleary-eyed morning. If you’re the type of reader who craves slow-burn romance, epic war scenes, and fiercely loyal friendships, this book is your next obsession.
“Only you can decide what breaks you.”
What I Loved
This book was a roller-coaster of tension, sacrifice, and unexpected reunions. Feyre is at her most strategic and courageous, navigating dangerous political waters in the Spring Court before unleashing her fury back in Velaris. Watching her reclaim her power and her place among her found family gave me chills.
The growth of the Inner Circle – especially Cassian and Nesta – was so layered and emotional. I couldn’t get enough. And of course, Rhysand. Always Rhysand. I would read 800 pages of him just breathing.
“You do not fear. You do not falter. You do not yield.”
What I Didn’t Love
There were a few pacing lulls in the middle. Especially during the war council meetings (SO MANY war council meetings). At times, I found myself wanting to skim ahead to the action. And I wish we had gotten more time with Lucien. He’s such a layered character with untapped potential.
“We’re all broken, in our own ways – in places no one might see.”
Final Thoughts
This installment is all about sacrifice, loyalty, and healing. It tackles how love can survive the harshest battles and how family – whether by blood or choice – can anchor you through war. Feyre’s transformation into a leader and protector is empowering. The message of resilience shines throughout.
This book is for you if you love:
- Epic fantasy series with found family vibes
- Enemies-to-lovers romance that turns into deep partnership
- High-stakes battles, magical politics, and fierce heroines
A Court of Wings and Ruin gave me all the feels. Betrayal, heartbreak, healing, triumph. While the pacing dipped at times, the emotional payoff and character arcs made up for it. It’s a brilliant continuation of a series that keeps delivering.
This was a solid FIVE STAR read for me!
What did you think of A Court of Wings and Ruin? Do you love the Inner Circle as much as I do?
