What’s worse than being stuck in a snowstorm? Being stuck in a snowstorm with a killer. No Exit by Taylor Adams had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish.
I picked this one up thinking it would be a typical thriller, but it turned out to be a wild, heart-pounding ride with one of the most intense premises I’ve ever read. As a mom, the idea of a child being in danger hit me hard, and I found myself rooting for Darby with every ounce of my being.
“You can’t save everyone. But you can damn sure try.”
What I Loved
The pacing of this book is unmatched. It’s fast, relentless, and keeps your guessing. The setting – a remote rest stop during a snowstorm – was claustrophobic and atmospheric; creating the perfect backdrop for this intense story.
Darby, the protagonist, is resourceful, determined, and flawed in ways that make her incredibly relatable. The twists were genuinely surprising, and the stakes felt sky-high from the very first chapter.
“Sometimes bravery is nothing more than a whispered prayer to get through the next moment.”
What I Didn’t Love
There were a few moments where the violence felt almost too graphic for me, but I understand that it added to the intensity of the story. Also, some character decisions felt a little too convenient, but the breakneck pacing made it easy to forgive.
“The line between hero and victim is thinner than you think.”
Final Thoughts
No Exit dives into themes of bravery, moral dilemmas, and the lengths we’ll go to protect the innocent. It’s a reminder that even in the most hopeless situations, resilience and determination can shine through.
This book is for:
- Fans of high-stakes thrillers with non-stop action
- Readers who love isolated, atmospheric settings
- Anyone who enjoys morally complex protagonists.
Taylor Adams has created a masterclass in suspense with No Exit. It’s fast, intense, and filled with twists that will leave you breathless. If you’re a thriller fan, this is a must-read. Just be prepared for some nail-biting moments!
It’s a 4.5/5 stars from me!
What would you do if you were stuck in Darby’s shoes? Could you face a killer to save someone else?
