I love a fantasy romance that’s dripping in atmosphere. Throne of Secrets by Kerri Maniscalco gave me exactly that. After loving Throne of the Fallen, I was both excited and nervous to see where the story would go next. But let me tell you: this sequel is rich, dark, and oh-so-addictive. In this spoiler-free Throne of Secrets book review, I’ll share why it earned 4.5 glowing stars from me.
“Secrets have power. And sometimes, they’re the only thing keeping us alive.”
What I Loved
The atmosphere Kerri Maniscalco builds a world that feels like velvet. It’s lush, dangerous, and impossible to look away from. The romance absolutely sizzles (fellow Swifties, think Don’t Blame Me levels of intensity). The banter had me kicking my feet. And the stakes? Higher than ever. I absolutely loved the way the characters wrestled with ambition, loyalty, and sacrifice. Those themes made the story resonate beyond just the swoon-worthy moments.
“In a court build on lies, the truth is the deadliest weapon.”
What I Didn’t Love
There were a few moments where the pacing dipped, especially in the middle. I also wanted a little more clarity on certain side plots. But overall, these were minor compared to how hard the book hit me emotionally.
“Love is the most dangerous secret of them all.”
Final Thoughts
At its heart, Throne of Secrets is about love and power. It’s about how far we’ll go to protect both of those things. It’s about how dangerous it can be to let someone truly see us. It explores trust, vulnerability, and the consequences of ambition in a world where every secret comes with a price. It felt Gothic, romantic, and emotionally charged. It was like stepping into a cathedral lit only by candlelight. It was beautiful, haunting, and unforgettable.

- Readers who crave swoon-worthy romance wrapped in high-stakes secrets
Throne of Secrets is everything I want in a fantasy romance sequel. It was atmospheric, intense, and brimming with heart-stopping moments. It’s the type of book that lingers with you long after you close the final page.
A strong 4.5 stars from me! I can’t wait to see where Kerri Maniscalco takes us next.
